Your Role’s Mission
You will join Pelico’s algorithm engineering team to help improve the scalability and performance of the systems powering our optimization engine.
As Pelico’s platform processes increasing volumes of industrial data, one of our key challenges is ensuring that our algorithms can scale efficiently across large datasets.
Your work will focus on optimizing heavy calculations, improving algorithm scalability, and enabling efficient data partitioning and parallel processing.
What You Will Do
1. Improve the scalability of Pelico’s algorithm engine
Refactor and optimize existing algorithms to support larger data volumes
Design solutions that enable data partitioning and parallel processing
Improve the efficiency of heavy calculations performed across large industrial datasets
Design data partitioning schemes while ensuring algorithmic consistency and correctness across partitions
2. Build high-performance backend systems in the JVM ecosystem
Design and implement backend services using Kotlin and Java within the JVM ecosystem
Optimize performance, memory usage, and computation efficiency
Ensure backend systems remain scalable, reliable, and maintainable
3. Work closely with product and algorithm teams
Collaborate with algorithm engineers and product managers to translate optimization problems into scalable software solutions
Contribute to technical discussions around system architecture and performance improvements
4. Improve the architecture of Pelico’s algorithm platform
Contribute to the evolution of the platform to support large-scale industrial data processing
Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve system efficiency

By improving the performance and scalability of our calculation engine, you will help industrial teams make faster and better operational decisions across complex factory environments.
What We’re Looking For
5–10+ years of software engineering experience
Strong experience building backend systems in the JVM ecosystem (Java / Kotlin / Scala/ Clojure)
Solid computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, distributed systems)
Experience working with large datasets or heavy calculation systems
Experience optimizing performance, memory usage, or large-scale backend systems
Strong analytical mindset and ability to work on complex technical challenges
Professional proficiency in English
Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, with a strong sense of ownership and autonomy
